Spin the Bottle

Director: Ian Fitzgibbon

Cast: Michael McElhatton, Peter MacDonald, Pat Leavy, Bronagh Gallagher

Cert: 15.

Good ensemble performances give this one a slight edge, though the promise of it being better is never fulfilled.

It comes out of the RTE comedy series, Paths to Freedom and it doesn't completely translate to the big screen.

The story concerns Rats (good performance here from Elhatton) who on his release from prison finds that the former members of their rock band have moved on. And then somebody robs his family of a sum of money, leading to all manner of gizmos.

It's funny, in a sitcom sort of way, the playing is often excellent and everybody deserves a tip of the cap for making an effort. It's just not quite enough.

Star Rating: 2/5
