Cat in the Hat tops US cinema chart

The movie version of Dr Seuss classic The Cat in the Hat shot to the top of the film chart in America at the weekend, according to figures out today.

The feline film creation, played by Austin Powers mastermind Mike Myers, dragged in almost €36m, knocking fellow Christmas film Elf into third place.
