Premiere for priest film
The popular Foyle Film Festival in Derry, the 16th, kicks off from November 21-30, and one of its many highlights is a controversial film by debut director John Deery.
Conspiracy of Silence, which Deery also wrote, is based on two real-life events: the suicide of parish priest, Frank Sweeney, and the expulsion from the priesthood of Daniel McLaughlin, a young trainee, on the grounds that he was open to sexual advances from a male colleague.
