Coppola to re-release musical flop

Twenty years after he pulled it from cinemas because of savage reviews, Francis Ford Coppola is to re-release his experimental musical film One From The Heart.

“It’s definitely the movie that no-one ever got a chance to see,” the filmmaker tells USA Today. “Next to no one has seen it.”

With songs by Tom Waits, the film starred Frederic Forrest, Terri Garr, Raul Julia and Nastassja Kinski.

Coppola said he now regrets his decision to pull it from cinemas after just a week-and-a-half.

“I owned the movie so if I was willing to take the loss, I could take it out of the theatres,” he said. “Ultimately I’m the one who had to pay for that privilege for the next ten years, paying off the loans that had financed it.”

One From The Heart, which has been digitally restored and enhanced, will also be released as a two-disc DVD set which will also chronicle the making of the film.
