Things To Do Before I Die … the theme of Coixet's moving and very human film.

We meet here Ann, resident of a trailer-park (played brilliantly by Polley), who discovers that she has terminal cancer and only weeks to live.

Though she has two beautiful daughters and a loving husband (Speedman), she enters into a romance with Lee (Ruffalo) … and is allowed to steer a unsentimental course by a director fully aware of the pitfalls of a last-days-to-live storyline.

There is no 'goo' dragging down this first-rate film, there is humanity and a feeling afterwards that you have been touched by a tale told with heart and sympathy.
