Robbie to play Abbey Road studios
Chart star Robbie Williams is swapping the huge crowds of Knebworth for an intimate audience when he plays the legendary Abbey Road studios, it was announced today.
The singer is to perform at the studios, famously used by The Beatles for most of their greatest recordings, for a BBC Radio 2 concert.
He will play to just 300 fans at the gig on November 19 – a huge contrast to the 375,000 who saw him perform at Knebworth over three days.
The show – which will be attended by mainly competition winners – will be broadcast on December 20.
It was announced by Radio 2 DJ Steve Wright this afternoon and is his only live concert before the New Year.
Radio 2 head of programmes Lesley Douglas said: “I’m delighted to have one of the great entertainers performing in one of the world’s most famous music venues.
“This unique, intimate event should be one of the hottest tickets this year - and if you are not lucky enough to be in Abbey Road, we will give you the best seat in the house by broadcasting the concert on Radio 2.
“I can’t think of a better way to kick-start our Christmas celebrations.”
