EastEnders star Shane Richie was revealing a toe-curling secret today – he wears bright red nail polish on his feet.
Richie, who plays Alfie Moon, showed off his scarlet toenails during an appearance on BBC1 show Parkinson.
Interviewer Michael Parkinson quizzed him about the bizarre habit and the actor reluctantly took off his shoes to show viewers his handiwork.
Richie has said he always enjoyed dressing up as a young boy and was fascinated by actors at his local theatre who would slap on the greasepaint.
He told Parkinson: “I think this is a throwback to when I was a child. People say ‘why do you do it?’ and I say ‘because I can’.”
Style gurus Trinny Woodall and Susannah Constantine were fellow guests on the show and were amazed at Richie’s revelation.
Trinny asked him: “Do you wear women’s underwear as well?”
Richie replied: “No, but I’ll happily try them on if you like.”
Elsewhere in the interview, the star, formerly famous for appearing in Daz adverts, said he would go back to being a Pontins blue-coat if his new-found acting career fizzled out.
“Even now, to this day, if it all goes belly-up and I had to make a living, I would go back to Pontins,” he said.
