Snoop Dogg is putting his own spin on Huggy Bear, the street hustler he plays in the film version of the 1970s television series Starsky And Hutch.

Snoop says his Huggy Bear has more attitude than the character played by Antonio Fargas on television.

“I took the good that he had when he was on TV and mixed it with the good that I do and made it more along the edges of what people really want to see on the big screen from a Huggy Bear character,” Snoop said.

“It was certain stuff that he couldn’t do back then that I can do differently now because it’s 2003. So he paved the way, but at the same time it’s all about me trying to take the role to the next level and educate the kids who’ve never seen Starsky And Hutch.”

In the film, which is due to open in March, Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson star in the roles originally played by Paul Michael Glaser and David Soul.
