Madonna sued by son of 'French Vogue' photographer

Pop icon Madonna is being sued by the son of a French fashion photographer who has accused the material girl of imitating images created by his father, it emerged today.

Snapshots from Madonna’s latest video, Hollywood, show the star leaning over a table staring into a round mirror and straddling a television set.

Samuel Bourdin said the images mirrored those taken by his late father Guy which were published in French Vogue from the 1950s to 1980s. Guy Bourdin died in 1991.

The lawsuit, filed in the United States District Court in Manhattan, accuses Madonna of copyright infringement for imitating images in at least 11 Bourdin works.

It does not set out how much is being sought in damages from the star and companies and individuals involved in the video’s production.

“Factors such as composition, background, wardrobe, lighting, narrative, camera angle, decor and objects depicted are strikingly similar,” the lawsuit claims.
