Leslie splits from girlfriend

John Leslie appeared to confirm today that he has split from girlfriend Abi Titmuss.

John Leslie appeared to confirm today that he has split from girlfriend Abi Titmuss.

The news was let slip as the former presenter appeared on Channel 4’s Richard and Judy programme for his first TV interview since sex charges against him were dropped.

Ms Titmuss is believed to have moved out of Leslie’s home last week and the pair were pictured apparently rowing in the street outside her flat.

During today’s interview, Leslie, 38, spoke of how the 27-year-old nurse had been a tower of strength throughout his ordeal.

Presenter Judy Finnigan then stepped in and asked him: “Will you remain friends?”

Her question gave the impression that she knew their relationship was over.

Looking clearly uncomfortable, Leslie replied: “We will be friends for life.”

Finnigan then quickly moved the conversation on to a different subject.

Ms Titmuss has stuck by Leslie since the rape and sexual assault allegations first surfaced last year.

Leslie said today: “Abi, throughout this ordeal, has been amazing. She is a great woman. She has nursed me through it.

“It was very hard for me to fill my days. I had no money left, my life was crumbling. Abi, throughout this, was there for me 24/7.

“I don’t think I would have come out of it as well as I have without her.”

But he admitted their relationship had been under “tremendous pressure”.

In the days after the charges against Leslie were dropped, there were reports the couple were set to marry.

But they had a series of rows and Ms Titmuss reportedly moved out of his £1.5 million home in Sheen, south west London, last week.

Leslie was appearing on Richard and Judy to promote the documentary, My Year Of Hell, being shown on Sky One on Sunday.

It includes tell-all video diary footage shot as sex allegations against him were investigated by police.

Today he attempted to draw a line under the scandal which has ruined his career.

“This is the beginning of the end for me. This is the first and last interview I am giving,” he said.

Leslie was sacked from ITV1’s This Morning in the wake of the allegations but wants to resurrect his TV career.
