Zeta-Jones sues French cosmetics company

Catherine Zeta-Jones is suing French cosmetics firm Caudalie for £10m (€14.46m) over an advertising campaign that says the Chicago Oscar-winner “was spotted buying the complete Caudalie range of skincare” and had used the company’s anti-ageing spa in Las Vegas.

Her lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles, says she has never bought the products, and did not receive services from the spa.

Zeta-Jones, married to Hollywood star Michael Douglas, says the company has no right to use her name in promotions.

The star of Entrapment and the forthcoming comedy Intolerable Cruelty has an exclusive deal to promote Elizabeth Arden cosmetics.

In her lawsuit, Zeta-Jones also named as defendants the retailer Neiman Marcus Group, for spreading the promotions on its website and the Turnberry Place condominiums, the location of Caudalie’s Las Vegas spa.
