Our marriage is not in crisis, insist Beckhams

David and Victoria Beckham today denied reports which claimed their marriage was in trouble and insisted that they were “extremely happy together”.

In a joint statement the couple scotched rumours that they had been experiencing difficulties since David’s £25m move from Manchester United to Real Madrid.

“Contrary to newspaper reports our marriage is not in crisis,” they said in a statement released through their management team.

“We are extremely happy together as a family. Our only difficulty has been finding a house in Madrid that meets our needs.

“Since we first met our careers have always meant we have spent time apart. This is not a reflection on the strength of our marriage and we are very much enjoying our new life in Spain.”

Since they arrived in Spain, the England captain has enjoyed a dream start to his Real Madrid career, scoring on his league debut and helping the team to their first Champions League victory against Marseilles in midweek.

He has already won over team-mates, fans and journalists with his style of play and desire to win.

Earlier this month he also launched his autobiography, My Side, which is set to become one of the biggest sellers of the year behind Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix.

Tonight, he will take to the field once again as Real Madrid take on Malaga.

Victoria, 29, meanwhile, has been jetting between New York, London and Spain and in the last week has been photographed at a nightclub in the capital.

Last night she attended the exclusive launch of Roca Wear in west London which was hosted by hip-hop producer Damon Dash.

In a bid to push her solo record career forward she has signed up with Pop Idol mastermind Simon Fuller, who was her manager with the Spice Girls.
