Hopkins plans return to Wales

Anthony Hopkins, who is a now a US citizen, will be returning to his native Wales next month for the first time in five years.

“I am looking forward to it because I haven’t seen my birthplace and childhood home for many years,” he told journalists at a press conference in Toronto. “I dream about it constantly now so I am going back to have a look at it all.”

Hopkins, who now lives in California, said his decision to leave the UK was “a bold and painful one” but he made it because opportunities were awaiting him in America.

“When I go back I guess I’ll see old friends who I haven’t seen for a long time,” he said.

Hopkins’s most recent film is The Human Stain in which he stars with Nicole Kidman.

He is soon to join Dubliner Colin Farrell in Morocco where he will play Ptolemy in Oliver Stone’s epic Alexander.
