J Lo denies wedding postponement 'ruse'

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck today denied their wedding postponement was a ruse to throw the media off the scent.

The couple said yesterday they had been forced to put back their big day indefinitely because of the amount of press attention surrounding it.

Their statement led some celeb-watchers and journalists to the conclusion that they were being tricked, and the wedding would go ahead after all, albeit in a different location.

But Lopez’s publicist said: “I don’t see that as possible.”

Guests expected at the wedding included Hollywood stars Matt Damon, Bruce Willis, Matthew Perry and Alec Baldwin.

It was believed that the ceremony would have taken place at a private €27m estate in Montecito, near Santa Barbara, California.

In a statement yesterday the couple said: “When we found ourselves seriously contemplating hiring three separate ’decoy brides’ at three different locations, we realised that something was awry.

“We felt what should have been a joyful and sacred day could be spoiled for us, our families and our friends.”
