Scarface, the controversial film about a Miami drug-dealer which was criticised for its gratuitous violence, is being re-released to mark its 20th anniversary and help promote the release of a two-disc DVD set.

The film, with a screenplay by Oliver Stone, stars Al Pacino as an ambitious, foul-mouthed Cuban immigrant who builds a drug empire.

The film has been restored and given a new digital soundtrack. The DVD, which will be released later this month, will include a 20-minute documentary about Scarface’s influence on hip-hop culture and music, featuring P Diddy, Snoop Dog and the rapper Scarface, reports the Associated Press.
