Elton to fill in for Celine in Las Vegas

Elton John is house-hunting in Las Vegas now that he has signed a £35m (€50.7m) contract to fill in for Celine Dion on her nights off.

John, who has homes in Atlanta and New York, will perform at the Colosseum theatre in Caesars Palace for 150 nights over two years, starting next year, reports the Las Vegas Sun.

Mariah Carey, Gloria Estefan and Jarry Seinfeld have been approached to perform on nights when Elton John cannot stand in for the Canadian singer, reports the newspaper.

Dion’s contract, which expires in March 2006, is worth £65m (€94m) for 600 shows.
