Street's Tracey pushes sensitive Roy to suicide bid

Viewers have watched in horror as Coronation Street’s poisonous Tracey Preston has schemed and lied her way into destroying Roy Cropper’s happy marriage.

But it looks like the Street’s resident man-eater will finally go too far tonight as her venomous behaviour leads the sensitive cafe boss to try to end it all with a bottle of pills.

Jealous Tracey, played by Kate Ford, has drugged, seduced and bedded quiet, unassuming Roy, played by David Neilson, for a bet, and then smugly watched his life fall apart.

But when she calmly announces her plan to abort Roy’s illegitimate child, leading to his wife Hayley’s decision to leave him and head for the bright lights of Amsterdam, Roy plunges into new depths of despair.

Feeling he has nothing left to live for, ever-conscientious Roy meticulously plans his suicide bid, paying off his staff and cleaning his cafe from top to bottom, before leaving a heart-wrenching note pinned to the door of his marital flat.

As Roy’s life hangs in the balance, Hayley leaps off the airport bus at the last minute and rushes back home to her man in his hour of need.

But will she get to poor Roy in time or will Tracey’s scheming turn out to be the final fatal blow for the troubled Croppers?
