Powerful performances stop Harrison's Flowers wilting

Harrison’s Flowers stars Andie MacDowell as photo editor Sarah Lloyd and David Strathairn as her photojournalist husband Harrison, who spends most of his time on dangerous assignments in far-away countries.

He wants to call time on his globetrotting, but his editor persuades him to stay on for one last job. It’s a decision he lives to regret.

Harrison is sent to Yugoslavia to cover what was thought to be a small civil war — Americans have never been very good at judging these things.

As the war escalates, Harrison is reported dead, but Sarah refuses to accept the news and heads off to find her hubby.

Harrison’s Flowers doesn’t pull any punches — some of the war scenes are pretty gruesome — but, thanks to powerful performances by MacDowell and Strathairn, it rises above the chaos to prove that love conquers all.
