Never-before-released Elvis song on way

Almost 40 years after Elvis Presley recorded it, a never-before-released song, I’m A Roustabout, will appear on the upcoming hits collection Elvis 2nd To None to be released in October.

The song was originally written for the 1964 film Roustabout by Presley collaborators Winfield Scott and Otis Blackwell, but the film’s director Hal Wallis, rejected it in favour of a similarly titled song, which went to No 1.

The Scott-Blackwell song fell into obscurity.

Scott, now in his 80s, told Reuters news agency that he found the unmarked recording several years ago, but did not think much about it.

“I know it sounds strange but I had actually forgotten about it,” he said.

“It was just laying around, along with a whole slew of other demos and a couple of hundred songs.”

Elvis 2nd To None will also feature a remix of an Elvis oldie, Rubberneckin’, remade by disc jockey Paul Oakenfold.
