Gerard Donovan's debut novel 'Schopenhauer's Telescope' is one of 23 books remaining in the race for one of the world's most famous literary prizes.

The Galway writer will find out if his book, which portrays a history of genocide from the point of view of a town baker, has been short-listed for the Booker Prize.
