Jolie falls out with Voight again
Actress Angelina Jolie has re-opened the rift with her father, criticising him for making people think she was a bad mother.
The Lara Croft legend told of her hurt at actor Jon Voightâs claim that his daughter had âserious mental problemsâ, telling the Sunday Herald magazine: âPeople wondered aloud whether or not I am a good mother. That is painful because it is so important to me.
âIt is hard to hear anyone say I am not a capable mother or a good person and that they think Iâm crazy.â
She said her estranged fatherâs outburst had marred her time with her newly adopted son, Maddox, three, whom she met in a Cambodian orphanage.
âOn the most beautiful day of my life, my first day with my son, he had cast this huge cloud,â the 28-year-old told the magazine.
She conceded that her behaviour in the past had been reckless but insisted that her fatherâs opinion of her was wrong, saying: âI have been self-destructive, but last year was the cleanest and healthiest Iâve ever been, so my fatherâs views are definitely misplaced.â
The screen siren also told of her heartbreak over her estrangement from ex-husband Billy Bob Thornton, with whom she split last year.
They sported tattoos of each otherâs names, wore pendants containing each otherâs blood, and she even reportedly bought his-and-hers cemetery plots for the couple.
Jolie, who has now had laser surgery to erase her tattoo of Thorntonâs name, said: âNo, we are not friends. We changed and became very different people.
âIt was an uncomfortable situation before we split, we simply donât know one another any more.â
But the actress said she remained good friends with her other ex, Trainspotting star Jonny Lee Miller, who was her co-star in the movie Hackers.
Jolie also said she would not hesitate to dabble in some more lesbian action, following her affair with actress Jenny Shimizu, whom she met on the set of Foxfire.
She said: âI was surprised when I suddenly found myself having feelings like this for a woman.
âBut I am an extremely sexual person who loves who she loves regardless of their sex. If I fell in love with a woman I would definitely pursue it.â
She also told how much she enjoyed performing dangerous stunts in her latest film, Lara Croft â The Cradle of Life, which opens on Friday. saying: âI like heights and Iâm an adrenaline junkie!â
