Sex And The City’s Kim Cattrall has bought the rights to the 1950 play The Country Girl and will produce and star in a new, made-for-television version of it, reveals the Hollywood Reporter.

The actress, who recently landed her fourth Emmy nomination for her role as the bed-hopping Samantha Jones in the hit series, will play the title role of The Country Girl, made famous on the big screen by Grace Kelly in 1954.

Her character is a loyal wife of a washed up, self destructive actor who is offered the chance of a comeback with the lead role in a stage musical.

It is one of two projects Cattrall currently has in the works with the HBO network, with produces Sex And The City.

The other is Sexual Intelligence, a feature-length documentary which she will co-produce and host later this year.
