Edinburgh Film Festival kicks off

The final preparations are underway for the Opening Gala of the Edinburgh International Film Festival in Scotland.

This year's festival opens with the UK premiere of Ewan McGregor's latest film, Young Adam.

McGregor won't be there as he is in Australia working on the new Star Wars film, but his co-stars Peter Mullan and Emily Mortimer will attend.

Other stars expected to attend screenings during the Festival include Samantha Morton and Paddy Considine, who will be at the UK premiere of In America.

Organisers are also hoping director Oliver Stone will be at the UK premiere of his documentary about Fidel Castro on August 16.

Aidan Quinn and Iain Glen will attend the screening of their new film Song For A Raggy Boy on August 17.
