Arnie pays €8.5m in taxes
Actor-turned political candidate Arnold Schwarznegger paid almost €8.5m in tax on an income of €22.6m last year, according to his tax returns.
Nearly €19.8m of that income came in the form of wages, most of that for acting in the film Collateral Damage, according to the documents.
The year before, wages accounted for about €20m of his €28.3m income, largely from The 6th Day.
Because Schwarzenegger is running for governor of California, his tax returns were opened for reporters at a Santa Monica hotel.
“Arnold likes paying taxes,” his investment manager, Paul Wachter, told reporters.
“It’s not that he goes out of his way to pay, it’s just that his philosophy is, ‘If I’m paying a lot of taxes, I must be making a lot of money.”’
