Fox News to sue 'Fair and balanced' author

America’s Fox News Channel TV station is suing liberal comedian Al Franken and the Penguin Group to stop them using the phrase “fair and balanced” in the title of his upcoming book.

Fox News uses the phrase as a slogan. Franken’s book is named Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right.

The author’s “intent is clear – to exploit Fox News’ trademark, confuse the public as to the origins of the book and, accordingly, boost sales of the book,” the lawsuit filed in New York said.

A spokeswoman for the publishers said “the attempt to keep the public from reading Franken’s message is un-American.”
