Suge Knight gets 10 months more in jail
Rap mogul Marion “Suge” Knight has been jailed for another 10 months after a California parole board ruled that he had punched a car park attendant outside a Hollywood nightclub.
But 25-year-old Mehdi Lazrak, the alleged victim, said outside the hearing that Knight had never hit him. “I never said I was hit by him,” Lazrak said.
“I don’t know how the police got that idea.”
Lazrak said he was hit from behind on the back of the head. Authorities believe he did not see who struck him.
Knight, 37, was instrumental in driving gangster rap into the mainstream in the 1990s while he was head of Death Row Records.
His artists included Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg and the late Tupac Shakur.
The 6ft 3ins, 22-stone Knight was jailed for five years in 1996 after he and Shakur beat a rival gang member in the lobby of the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas.
Shakur was shot dead three hours later as he drove with Knight, who was wounded.
