Bedingfield storms to top of UK charts
Daniel Bedingfield tonight ended Beyonce’s three-week stay at the top of the UK singles chart.
The 23-year-old’s new single, Never Going To Leave Your Side, went straight in at number one, pushing Crazy In Love into the second spot.
Also making an impact were the Stereophonics, whose new single Maybe Tomorrow reinforced the sense of an indie revival by debuting at number three.
Long-term chart resident Bring Me Back To Life by Evanescence slipped just one place to five, while The Fast Food Song demonstrated its staying power once again, losing just two places at number 11.
But glam rockers Goldfrapp could not manage a top-20 spot with their new single, Strict Machine, which made a disappointing first appearance at 25.
Beyonce may have lost her crown in the singles chart, but her album is still riding high.
Dangerously In Love outsold Bedingfield’s Gotta Get Through This, which rose 11 places to number two, to hold on at the top.
