'Sinbad' sinks slowly

A film from DreamWorks which, alas, adds another nail to the coffin of classic animation.
It has been a declining art for several years now, due largely to the over-use of the computer. The art of great hand-drawn films has all but died out and the truth is that, for all the wonderful things they can do, computers are not necessarily an adequate replacement.

Sinbad has not been a hit in the States - interestingly, audiences have chosen instead to flock to the 'human' Pirates of the Caribbean - and you can see why here. There is, to be sure, a lot of adventure and action, lots of heroes and villains and beautiful princesses and stolen magic books; but it's still not enough to grab our attention.
There is a star-studded line-up of VO's but even they can't get the thing to work.
There is another problem; the film is simply awful to look at. So whatever happened to artists with a pencil and a pot of paint?
