Scorsese to make foray into TV
Martin Scorsese is making his first foray into television with a mini-series called The Twelve, which he is producing for the Sci Fi Channel in America.
It chronicles an FBI agent’s confrontation with a bizarre series of events he suspects to be signs of an impending apocalypse timed for the Twelfth Day of Christmas.
By turning to television Scorsese is following the example of Steven Spielberg, whose 20-hour mini-series Taken proved a giant hit for the channel and was later seen around the world.
“What makes Scorsese really attractive is we’re trying to get ourselves out of science fiction,” the channel’s Mark Stern tells the Hollywood Reporter.
“We’re looking to say ‘we’re more than just that’.”
