Robot wars for BB housemates
The Big Brother housemates were set for another shock today as their weekly live challenge promised both pleasure and pain.
The remaining six contestants will race robotic animals and the winner will be named Head of House for the week, with responsibilities including deciding the shopping budget.
The four runners-up will join the winner in a frenzy of unlimited alcohol until Thursday night as the reward room is decked out as an Irish-themed pub.
But one unlucky loser will be barred from the room, while the others will not be allowed to pass food or drink out to them.
It was not all good news for the overall winner either, who will now face the difficult choice of picking who will be up for eviction next week.
Last night fat chef Gos was ordered out of the kitchen and the rest of the Big Brother house after becoming the seventh contestant to be given the boot.
Eviction night was put back a day after a security alert at the Elstree studios meant the housemates and hundreds of staff and Big Brother fans were evacuated while Army bomb disposal experts checked the area was safe.
The live task was also delayed until today after TV schedules were plunged into chaos by the suspect package – which turned out to be a box containing electrical TV equipment.
It was the first time that Gos, 31, from Southall, west London, had faced the public vote, but he failed to fight off the competition from fellow nominees Ray and Nush.
As Gos left the house there was not the usual huge screaming crowd to greet him following the cancelled eviction.
Davina explained that they could not ask the crowd to stay outside overnight to meet him, but Gos seemed happy enough to see his family and girlfriend Stacy who tried to make up for the quiet reception with enthusiastic cheers.
Gos was asked about the bomb scare and how the group reacted to the change of scenery.
“They (the programme producers) came in and told there was some kind of security breach and they were going to move us.
“So obviously your adrenaline starts pumping and you wonder what’s going on here?”
Gos showed he may need some training in press relations after he was told that the room the housemates were taken to was usually used by the journalists covering the evictions.
“That’s what the smell was,” he quipped.
Gos said he had not gone into the house to win the £70,000 (€101,000) prize and would have been happy to stay for three weeks, let alone six.
Asked about new housemate Lisa, Gos said he liked her despite the opinion of the other housemates.
“She’s all right, she’s a good girl.
“When a new person came in you knew there was going to be some sort of rocking the boat.
“She seems to have too much information to give you, it’s like information overload.”
Gos, whose real name is Herjender Gosal, said he did not think he had done all the cooking and had acted as a “reference book” to help the others.
Gos was also told about today’s task and said he thought Cameron would be the best leader and would choose Lisa, Ray and Nush to be evicted.
He said that Ray would make the worst leader.
Today’s challenge, to be shown during Big Brother’s Little Brother on Channel 4, will also see all but one of the remaining contestants win entry to reward room.
In what show producers describe as a “special treat”, the room will remain open until Thursday, with opening hours of 11am until midnight.
During this time the housemates will have unlimited access to wine and beer, snacks and pub games.
