Comedy series Father Ted is being re-made for American television viewers.
The series, revolving around three eccentric Catholic priests on a remote Irish island, ran for three seasons in the UK before the death of series star Dermot Morgan in 1998.
It is currently being adapted for America and the US producers stress that it will not touch on the real-life scandals plaguing the Catholic Church.
“I think this is the right time to do a show that touches on the humanity of priests,” producer Gavin Polone told Daily Variety. “The press creates a distance bween the church and regular people, but this show makes the priests human.”
