Law going back in time
Jude Law is going back in time to star in the historical romance Tulip Fever, which has a script written by playwright Tom Stoppard, according to reports in Hollywood.
Set in 17th century Amsterdam, the story revolves around a young woman who marries a wealthy merchant to escape poverty. When she falls madly in love with a penniless artist who is hired to paint her portrait the lovers try to raise money to elope together by investing what little they have in the high-stakes tulip market.
The film, in which Law will play the artist, is expected to begin filming next spring.
Law is no stranger to films set in the past, having most recently starred in the gangster saga Road To Perdition, the Civil war romance Cold Mountain and the 1930s-set The World Of Tomorrow.
