Zellweger to play Joplin

Film companies have been competing for years to get a biography of singer-songwriter Janis Joplin to the big screen.

It looks like Paramount Pictures and Lakeshore have done it and are now aiming to start filming early in 2004 for "Piece of My Heart".

Renee Zellweger will star.
