More surprises promised to keep Big Brother lively

Big Brother today promised “lots more surprises” following last night’s double eviction from the house.

There was speculation the next shock move would see one of the housemates being swapped with a South African Big Brother contestant.

Following the departure of boring Jon Tickle and fiery Federico Martone, The Sun reported the swap would take place following a quiz tonight testing the fame-wannabes’ knowledge of the world.

The African show has been running at the same time as the UK version, with 12 housemates picked from across the continent.

Critics have complained Big Brother 4 is the most boring series so far, but officials denied the double eviction was an attempt to make the reality show more exciting.

A spokeswoman said: “We have always said from the very beginning there were going to be lots of surprises in store and the double eviction is one of the surprises we had planned all along.”

She added: “We are quite happy with the ways thing are going with the show so far, but we have got lots more surprises in store.”

After last night’s double evictions, which saw the first boys booted out of the house, host Davina McCall hinted another surprise was planned, with a shock announcement to be made on Monday during sister programme Big Brother’s Little Brother.

But officials would not talk about the rumoured South African swap. A spokeswoman said: “We cannot confirm or deny rumours.”
