BB housemates pass their task

The Big Brother housemates have finally passed their weekly task for the first time since the show began.

The group jumped around hugging one another and screaming with delight when they heard the news.

It means their shopping budget for next week will be a whopping £152.63 (€220) - compared to the £12.37 (€17.70) they would have been forced to live on if they had failed.

This week’s task involved dressing up as superheroes at the sound of a theme tune.

Serial blunderer Federico put the group in jeopardy once again when he failed to put on his costume in time.

But the housemates were allowed one mistake and the rest of the group completed the task faultlessly.

Big Brother made the happy announcement this afternoon when the housemates were in the garden wearing their superhero outfits.

“One superhero mission was failed,” the announcement began.

But Big Brother went on: “The rules state that housemates are allowed to fail one superhero mission. The housemates have therefore passed this week’s task.”

The group celebrated wildly then dashed into the Diary Room to thank Big Brother.

But Fed stayed behind, changing back into his normal clothes and wandering off to the bedroom alone.

Two of the nine housemates will be evicted from the house on Friday night. Cameron, Jon and Federico are all facing the boot.

There is speculation that Big Brother plans to introduce a new contestant to the house.

But the housemates’ happiness at passing the task was shortlived.

Within minutes of sitting down to plan next week’s food budget, they were squabbling over what to buy.

Nush became impatient with the group’s indecision then complained they had ordered too much meat and cheese.

Jon piped up: “I think we’ve forgotten how to eat properly.”

But a clearly tetchy Ray told him: “Sorry Jon, but I couldn’t give two monkeys about the food. We eat well enough.”

“You might think so,” said Jon, to which Ray walked out of the room muttering: “Get out of my face.”

But they were all smiles again when Big Brother rewarded them for passing the task with a “picnic fit for superheroes”.

They were given a luxury hamper crammed with delights including sandwiches, chicken, stuffed vine leaves and strawberry scones.

And Big Brother threw in four bottles of champagne for them to toast their success.
