Early promise but Identity is lost

The early promise - of, albeit, a conventional tale - is not delivered upon in this murder mystery.

It is a tale told before, and better, in which on a dark and stormy night a group of odd-balls find themselves stranded in a remote, and totally isolated, hotel ... and somebody is, Christie-fashion, bumping them off.

Director Mangold has brought us such fine films as Copland and Girl, Interrupted but in this disappointing film he has been left with nowhere to go, by a weak script that tries to be clever without knowing how.

The excellent cast is trapped, like their characters, inside a plot which has not been fully thought-out.
