Morning gin keeps Ray Charles fit

Singing legend Ray Charles stays fit by taking a shot of gin in his coffee every morning, according to actress Regina King.

“Gin and coffee – that keeps him young,” says King, who plays the “other woman” in Charles’s life in the film biography Unchain My Heart: The Ray Charles Story which has just finished filming.

“He’s in his 70s and he plays 200 concert dates a year – far more than most young guys,” King told a press conference in London.

Jamie Foxx plays Charles in the film which, says King, portrays him as he really is.

“Nobody’s going to see it and think he is an angel,” she said.
