'Dirty Deeds' is a rip-off

Dirty Deeds

Director: David Caesar

Cast: Bryan Brown, Sam Neill, John Goodman, Toni Collette, Sam Worthington

Cert: 18

Not all Australian films are good; and here's the proof.

We have here a rip-off of too many other films in which Worthington returns from Vietnam - it's set in the 1960s - and gets involved in the Sydney crime scene with his bad uncle, Brown, and his wife, Collette. Along comes American heavy Goodman set on moving in.

There is nothing original or interesting in this dismal effort since the makers have clearly come to it without a script and decided to re-hash as many scenes as they could remember from other films. Well, hold that thought; the always-excellent Collette does survive the disaster, because she's always a class act.

Star Rating: 2/5
