Patsy backs campaign to help new mums get into shape
Actress Patsy Kensit today launched a campaign to help new mothers get back into shape.
The celebrity mother of two is supporting Fit Mothers, which offers free advice on exercise, nutrition and contraception to women in England.
Patsy, 34, said: “As a mother of two I can directly relate to the highs and lows of motherhood.
“It is both an amazing and exhausting time. Your body has changed dramatically and you have a new little baby to look after.
“I know how hard it is for new mothers to adapt to their changing lifestyle and get back into shape after having a baby.
“After having my two sons my body changed beyond recognition so I had to make exercise part of my life and watch what I ate.”
Asked about her recent battle to lose the weight she put on for a role in British film The One And Only, Patsy defended her shape.
She said: “I’m very happy with how I look and I’m very happy with my life.
“I’m a single mother. I can’t get a hairdresser and make-up artist round to my house every morning to make me look presentable before I go out.”
Patsy, who has 10-year-old son, James, from her marriage to Simple Minds singer Jim Kerr, and Lennon, three, from her marriage to Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher, added: “I think Fit Mothers is a really exciting campaign.
“Any new mother who wants to get back into shape after having a baby can learn how in one free class.”
