Coogan and Chan take time out from filming

The British actor-comedian Steve Coogan and martial arts ace Jackie Chan have taken the unusual step of leaving the set of Around The World In 80 Days mid-way through production in order to promote it at the Cannes Film Festival.

They appeared at a press conference to announce that Owen Wilson and his brother Luke would make cameo appearances as the Wright brothers in the film, which also stars Kathy Bates and Jim Broadbent.

“There is no violence, no sex and no dirty jokes,” Chan told journalists. “Parents let their children go to Jackie Chan movies.”

The film is currently shooting near Berlin and will then move on to Thailand and Los Angeles.

Based on Jules Verne's classic story, it stars Chan as Passepartout and Coogan as the strait-laced adventurer Phileas Fogg.
