Veronica Guerin star Blanchett takes on new role

The Australian actress Cate Blanchett, star of a new film about the life of Veronica Guerin, will next star as the children’s author Beatrix Potter in Miss Potter.

The film biographywill be directed by Blanchett’s fellow countryman, Bruce Beresford.

The film, which will combine live action with computer generated animation to bring Potter’s animal characters to life, explores the life of the young spinster who overcame a domineering mother and the chauvinism of Victorian England to become a bestselling author.

Blanchett was persuaded to take the role after producers added a computer generated image of Peter Rabbit into an emotional scene from her film Elizabeth, reports Daily Variety.
