Can Johnny stand the heat in Hell's Kitchen?

Hell’s Kitchen begins with a robbery that goes wrong, leaving one dead and Johnny (Mekhi Phifer) on his way to jail.

Five years pass and Johnny’s back on the streets determined to mend his ways.

He gets a job working in a stables with Lou (William Forsythe) an ex-boxer who seems to have enough problems of his own.

Johnny’s ex-girlfriend Gloria (Angelina Jolie) isn’t so happy about him getting a fresh start in life, she blames him for her brother’s death and tries to persuade her current boyfriend Patty (Johnny Whitworth) to even the score.

To confuse things even further, Patty is sleeping with Gloria’s crippled, druggie mother (Rosanna Arquette), and he’s still weighed down with a dark secret about the robbery.

Part soap opera, part gangster film, part family drama, Hell’s Kitchen ingredients don’t add up to a very wholesome mixture.
