Baby joy for Brooke Shields

Actress Brooke Shields has given birth to her first child at the age of 37.

The Blue Lagoon star had a baby girl in a Manhattan hospital on Tuesday, the New York Daily News reported.

The youngster, who has not yet been named, was born just three weeks after the death of the actress’s father, Frank.

Child star Shields said during her pregnancy that she would not allow her daughter to be “paraded” for the cameras like she was.

Shields is married to TV producer Chris Henchy. Her marriage to tennis star Andre Agassi in 1997 ended in divorce two years later.
