Bond car sells for almost €300,000
A sleek and sexy Bond car will live another day after it was sold for almost €300,000 at auction today.
The Aston Martin V12 Vanquish, driven by Pierce Brosnan in blockbuster Die Another Day and the only one up for sale, went for £210,500 (€294,307).
It was snapped up by motor-museum owner Peter Nelson at the annual Bonham’s sale held at Aston Martin’s Newport Pagnell Works Service, Buckinghamshire.
Mr Nelson, whose Cars Of The Stars museum houses 25 Bond vehicles – the largest collection in the world – said: “I have a number of James Bond vehicles but this really is the most fabulous thing I’ve ever been in.
“I sat in it and it fit me perfectly. I can’t wait to take it for a drive and my children are desperate for me to pick them up from school in it.
“But I’m a bit shaken and stirred because it’s not a cheap car.”
Chassis number SCFAC13372B500172 is one of just three pristine ‘hero’ cars driven by Brosnan on the Icelandic set and featured extensively in close-up shots of British agent 007 in pursuit of villain Gustav Graves.
The specially-coloured Tungsten Silver Vanquish cuts a striking image as the two play cat and mouse across the frozen landscape, while the dashing Bond tries to save the world from Graves’s solar-powered satellite weapon.
Bond fans will be able to see the car for themselves at the new Edinburgh Cars Of The Stars museum from May 17 before it is whisked back to Keswick.
