The next Billy Elliott could be in Belfast

A film to be shot in Belfast could produce the next Billy Elliot but the young star doesn't need to worry about his ballet steps.

Writer-director Terry Loane is currently searching for two young stars for his upcoming Jonjo Mickeybo, adapted from Owen McCafferty's well-regarded stage play.

Auditions will be held in Belfast and, says Loane: "The story is about two wee lads growing up in the l970s and since the two young actors will be in almost every scene they face a lot of hard work. But we know our as-yet undiscovered Jamie Bells (Bell played Elliot) are out there."
