Connelly plays girlfriend to big green hulk

Jennifer Connelly, who played the wife of a schizophrenic in A Beautiful Mind, has her work cut out with her latest role, the girlfriend of Bruce Banner, who turns into a giant green monster in The Hulk.

“I didn’t know what my niche was because I’m playing a part in a drama where the man I love has problems expressing his emotions,” she tells the Los Angeles Times.

“But it’s also an action movie and also a comic book and when he finally does turn into this green being, it doesn’t become tongue-in-cheek. You have to stay invested, and that’s a challenge.”

The Hulk, which stars Australian actor Eric Bana as Banner and is directed by Ang Lee, is expected to be one of this summer’s most popular films.
