This is well worth catching

The Heart of Me

O'Sullivan, one of the leading Irish directors from way back, is back on well-trod ground with this eternal triangle tale.

Set in London during the late l930s and early l940s, we meet the ultimately charmless - though we are fooled on first meeting him - City type (Bettany) whose wife (Williams) invites her younger sister (Bonham Carter) to stay on the death of their father.

It is not the wisest thing she could have done as problems mount.

It is, in many ways, a conventional cuckoo-in-the-nest story and it is as well-handled as we expect an O'Sullivan film to be. Remember that one of his earliest films touched upon similar themes in December Bride. He has, though, hindered the telling of what is a promising film, by the switching of time frames.

Still, the acting carries it through and it's well worth catching.
