Liza denies that she's nearly broke

Liza Minnelli is planning a lavish party in London to celebrate her husband DAVID GEST’s birthday on May 9.

Her present to him will be a new Mercedes-Benz and she has designed a six feet tall birthday cake for the party, which will be held at the London House with a guest list of international stars and nobility.

The singer-actress, who recently returned to a rehabilitation clinic for a short stay to re-enforce her fight against addiction, laughs at reports that she is nearly broke.

“My husband has helped make me a lot of money in the past year,” she said in an interview.

“I’m talking millions. I don’t have to worry or work if I don’t want to - but I want to.

"David and I know where these rumours come from and we just laugh.”
