Wogan misses most of his radio show today
Radio presenter Terry Wogan missed most of his show today after turning up more than 90 minutes late when he was stuck in traffic.
The jovial DJ was only on air for half an hour of his two-hour BBC Radio 2 breakfast show slot but told listeners: “It’s not my fault.”
The 64-year-old Irish star was caught up in traffic chaos as a road was closed and he had to take a lengthy diversion.
Sarah Kennedy, who was fronting the early show, had to carry on when Wogan had not arrived by his start time of 7.30am.
She continued to fill in until 8.35am and Ken Bruce took over to hold the fort.
Wogan, who has hosted the slot for 10 years, said: “I did try to get in.”
In 2000 Wogan ended up hosting his show via mobile phone when he was stuck behind a lorry drivers’ go-slow in west London.
