The British pop trio Atomic Kitten have crossed the Atlantic week with a self-titled album, hoping to do what few British acts have done since the early 1990s – conquer America.

The three – Jenny Frost, Natasha Hamilton and Liz McClarnon are helped by the single The Tide Is High, which is on the soundtrack of the soon-to-be-released Walt Disney Co film The Lizzie McGuire Movie.

“America is a very time-consuming market and we wanted to be ready before we tried to break there,” Frost, 25, told the New York Post. “We didn’t want to give America a half-hearted effort.”
